<div class="desc"><p>Canonicalizes a path lexically (without touching disk): duplicate separators collapse, <code>.</code> segments drop, and <code>..</code> pops the preceding segment. An absolute path never rises above its root. The result is stable, so it is a good key for comparing or sandboxing paths.</p></div>
